Senior Deadline Information
Senior portraits are taken in the summer prior to your senior year as they are the first deadline of your yearbook. We recommend that you book early to receive your ideal session date and qualify for some of our specials.
After you are photographed and view your photos in our studio, we submit your yearbook selection to the school for you.
Students who re-schedule their appointment too close to the yearbook deadline will NOT be able to make their own choice for the yearbook. O’Connor Photography will submit a studio choice to the yearbook for you.
If a student doesn't make a choice for the yearbook before the deadline, the studio will make one for them, in order to be included in the yearbook.
We suggest you call in your yearbook choice as soon as you receive your proofs to guarantee your submission is sent to the school.
FAQ's
“ When is the yearbook deadline & how to submit our choice? ”
The yearbook deadlines vary, it can be as early as September or as late as December. It depends on the yearbook publisher for your school and it is up to the yearbook advisor to provide this date and we usually are given this date at the beginning of your 2023-2024 school year.
Anyone that takes their photos after their school's deadline will need to get permission from your school's yearbook advisor if we can still send them your senior image.
Yearbook deadlines will be on our website under the "Seniors" tab and in the email sent when your proofs are ready to be viewed (if we have received the deadline by then).
All yearbook choices MUST be called into the studio. We do not accept them by email or voicemail, so please make sure to speak to one of our staff members.
“ Which photo goes into the yearbook? ”
Only the Semi-Formal attire with the school approved gray background will be allowed to go into the yearbook. The cap and gown or personal outfits is NOT sent to the school for the yearbook.
The following schools have specific requirements for the yearbook:
Agua Dulce iLead: Your school allows you to pick from ANY photo taken at our studio
SCVi iLead & LPA Students: Your school REQUIRES you to submit your cap & gown for the yearbook photo.
GVHS, Legacy & SHS Students: Your school REQUIRES you to wear the black drape or tuxedo for the yearbook photo.
Santa Clarita Christian: Your school REQUIRES you to wear the black drape or suit for the yearbook photo.
“ What classifies as semi-formal yearbook attire? “
Boys - Collared, button up dress shirt. No polo shirts. We recommend a suit/ tux jacket along with a tie/bow tie but it’s okay if you don't have a jacket or tie. The attire you choose DOES NOT have to be a black jacket and tie with white shirt. Be different, stand out!
Girls - Nice blouse or dress as long as it follows school dress code. Nothing revealing. Be different, stand out!
Yearbook and Traditional sessions DO NOT include full body poses, so you do not need to worry about the bottom portion of your attire.
Any students not following school dress code will be provided semi-formal attire to change into.
“ Do you provide formal attire and cap & gowns to students? “
Yes!! We will provide the black drape, tuxedos, suits and cap & gowns (in all the different school colors)
GVHS, SCCS & SHS Students: Your school REQUIRES you to wear the black drape or tuxedo for the yearbook photo. Therefore, we will provide both attires for students.
Cap & Gowns:
All school colors
If your student is an honors student, they MUST let the dresser know. Our dressers always asks students/families if the students is an honors student or not to know which gown to put on them. Schools DO NOT tell us who is an honors student.
“Why is there limited availability for scheduling a session ?”
Couple of reasons why there is limited availability:
As the weeks progress we will make more days available online. Some students tend to wait until the last minute to take their photo and sometimes there is no room to reschedule if needed .
We don't want you to schedule too late in the year until we know when the school yearbook deadline is . We do not want you to accidentally depend on a date that will possibly be after your schools deadline.
We advise you to take your photos as soon as possible! There is a chance there will be later dates available if you schedule by phone (not a guarantee).
